Practice-oriented teaching

Practice-oriented teaching and entrepreneurship play a significant role in teaching at Ruhr University across all faculties.

Within the framework of practice-oriented teaching, companies, cities or other institutions contribute socially relevant issues to the teaching. The students, in turn, contribute their insights and knowledge to work together on solving regional and global challenges.

A variety of practice-oriented teaching formats exist at the Ruhr-Universität. Are you a company, organization or public corporation interested in cooperating in the context of practice-oriented teaching? Please do not hesitate to contact us.

Here is a selection of practice-oriented teaching formats:

  • Entrepreneurship Education
Within the framework of the "Entrepreneurship" certificate, students at the Ruhr-Universität can acquire entrepreneurial skills. After all, entrepreneurship is a science in itself that needs to be researched, taught and learned.
  • Innovative practical projects
As part of the university program "Innovative Practical Projects", teachers are supported in developing and testing interdisciplinary, practice-oriented teaching and learning formats.
  • Projects in science and practice
As part of the "Projects in Science and Practice" program, teams of students work together on entrepreneurial issues over the course of a semester. In addition to gaining interesting insights into entrepreneurial practice, students learn basic project management skills, presentation techniques, and analytical methods that they can apply directly to their problem.
